Dr. Piyush is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. He received his B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics from the University of Delhi, India, and his M.Sc. in Physics, specializing in Electronics and Condensed Matter Physics, from Kurukshetra University, India. He earned his Ph.D. from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad, India, while carrying out his doctoral research at CSIR–National Physical Laboratory (CSIR–NPL), New Delhi. His doctoral research focused on the design, development, and instrumentation of ultrasonic pulse velocity measurement systems. During his postdoctoral research at the University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA, he worked on the design, development, and study of instrumentation for the ultrasonic dispersion method of aerosol generation. He is currently engaged in the design, development, and evaluation of a biomedical imaging instrument based on diffuse optical spectroscopy in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Notre Dame.
His research interests include ultrasound, non-destructive testing (NDT), aerosol science, biophotonics, and scientific instrumentation.
Dr. Piyush has developed six scientific devices and two software applications related to ultrasound. He holds one U.S. patent, one Indian patent, and one software copyright. One of his technologies has been successfully transferred to industry for commercialization. He has also developed and released three reference materials for the calibration of ultrasonic pulse velocity testers. His scholarly contributions include five research articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, six book chapters, and presentations at five national and international conferences. In addition, he has participated in nine national and international conferences.
