Dr. Jason Yang is an electrical and biomedical engineer with a focus on biophotonics and medical device design. His research involves studying how light and tissue interact to design novel sensing hardware to interrogate various disease states. He was previously a researcher in Tyndall National Institute in Ireland and is currently a Provost fellow at the University of Notre Dame where he is designing optical hardware to ensure fetal health during childbirth.

Jason has expertise in analog and digital signal processing, circuit design, with a focus on diffuse optics. He has worked on several projects ranging from implantable, subdermal electroencephalograms, to designing and deploying hardware to measure cerebrovascular blood flow impedance non-invasively using optics.

Jason holds a Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and Bachelors and Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In his spare time, he enjoys making dumplings and apple pies.
