The O'Sullivan Group was awarded a travel grant from Notre Dame International to travel to the University of Twente in the Netherlands to work with Professor Nienke Bosschaart. There we will be using diffuse optical imaging technology to deeply yet non-invasively and without chemicals study lactation physiology. Our goal is to better understand what causes insufficient milk supply in nursing mothers. Studies have shown that mothers that nurse for at least 6 months have healthier babies, which has a greater impact on a thriving society.
